Cooking red snapper is relatively simple and allows the natural flavors of the fish to shine. Here are a few popular ways to prepare it:

(HOW TO COOK)

1. Grilled Red Snapper

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole red snapper (scaled, gutted, and cleaned)
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Lemon slices
  • Fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, or rosemary)
  • Garlic (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Rub the red snapper with olive oil, then season it generously with salt, pepper, and any herbs or garlic.
  3. Place the fish on the grill, either whole or cut into fillets.
  4. Grill the fish for about 6-8 minutes on each side (depending on size), until the flesh is opaque and easily flakes with a fork.
  5. Garnish with fresh lemon slices and serve.

2. Baked Red Snapper

Ingredients:

  • 2 red snapper fillets or a whole red snapper
  • Olive oil or butter
  • Salt and pepper
  • Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, dill, etc.)
  • Lemon slices
  • Garlic (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. If using a whole snapper, make a few shallow cuts in the fish to allow the seasoning to penetrate.
  3. Rub the fish with olive oil or butter, then season with salt, pepper, and your preferred herbs.
  4. Place the snapper on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. If desired, add slices of garlic and lemon on top of the fish.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes (for fillets) or 30-35 minutes (for a whole fish), or until the flesh is opaque and easily flakes.
  7. Serve with more lemon wedges.

3. Pan-Seared Red Snapper

Ingredients:

  • Red snapper fillets
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil or butter
  • Lemon wedges
  • Fresh herbs (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Season the red snapper fillets with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. When the pan is hot, add the fillets skin-side down (if using skin-on fillets) and cook for about 3-4 minutes until the skin is crispy.
  4. Flip the fillets and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side, until the flesh is opaque and flakes easily.
  5. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the fish before serving.

4. Red Snapper in Coconut Milk (Curry Style)

Ingredients:

  • 4 red snapper fillets
  • 1 can of coconut milk
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1-inch piece of ginger (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder or paste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large pan, sauté the onion, garlic, and ginger in oil over medium heat until softened.
  2. Add the curry powder or paste and cook for 1 minute to release the flavors.
  3. Pour in the coconut milk and bring it to a simmer.
  4. Season the fish with salt and pepper, then add it to the pan.
  5. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the fish is fully cooked through and flakes easily.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

These methods highlight the fresh taste of red snapper while allowing you to experiment with different flavors and cooking styles. Enjoy!
